Safely transport learners and staff to and from school and authorised destinations on designated routes and according to approved schedules.​
Pick up and drop off learners at designated stops, ensuring that embarkation and disembarkation are conducted in a safe and orderly manner.​
Transport learners and staff on authorised outings, sports events and field trips, planning routes and stops as required.​
Maintain order and appropriate learner behaviour on the bus in line with school policies, addressing minor issues and reporting serious concerns timeously.​
Conduct daily safety and operational inspections of the vehicle, checking items such as tyres, lights, brakes, fuel, oil and cleanliness before and after trips.​
Report mechanical problems, safety concerns or incidents immediately and follow established procedures for repairs and reporting.​
Service the bus as required with fuel and basic fluids and ensure the interior and exterior of the bus are kept clean and tidy.​
Participate in required safety drills, first aid or transport-related training, and complete any associated documentation.​
Perform general maintenance and facility support duties as allocated, including basic repairs and upkeep of buildings, classrooms and common areas.​
Conduct routine checks of facilities to identify maintenance needs and report them to the Facilities Manager.​
Assist with security and access control by monitoring entrances, reporting concerns and supporting traffic management on the school premises.​
Support garden and grounds maintenance, including lawn care, flower bed maintenance, cleaning of outdoor spaces and safe storage of tools and consumables.​
Assist with setting up and clearing venues, halls and other areas for school events and activities as required.​
Maintain basic records related to transport activities, such as mileage logs, passenger counts and trip reports, as required by the school
Key Skills / Requirements
Matric/Grade 12.​
Valid driver’s licence with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).​
Minimum of 1 year’s experience as a bus driver or similar transport role.​
Experience working with children or within a school environment will be advantageous.​
Ability to conduct basic vehicle inspections and identify obvious mechanical or safety issues.​
Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact calmly and respectfully with learners, staff and parents.​
Reliable, punctual and able to follow schedules and instructions accurately.​
Physically able to perform general worker and maintenance-related tasks.​
Clear criminal record.​
Personal commitment to education and willingness to support the values and ethos of the school.​
